MIR Mourns The Passing Of James Hatton

It was with great sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of James Hatton, better known by his scene/profile name Bodisama, and as the founder of Devil Dog Rubber.

KinkRubber and Rubberwilli were in Berlin attending the annual festivities surrounding BLF Easter Weekend when we heard the news of his passing. We had in fact just been speaking about ways in which MIR could help James promote his new passion, Devil Dog Rubber, through Mr. International Rubber.

James had become a close friend of MIR in recent months, creating custom outfits for KinkRubber and his henchmen among others. He had recently approached MIR about donating several custom Devil Dog Rubber suits to be given away as incentives for those who participated in MIR Early Registration. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the direction MIR was headed, and we in turn were excited by the success and creativity of new rubber designs he was exploring through Devil Dog Rubber.

We at MIR extend our condolences to James' family, his partner Matt, and all those who knew and loved him. While the future of Devil Dog Rubber is still unknown, it is clear the rubber community has lost a creative and original soul, just as he was hitting his stride.

MIR2011 Hotel Taking Your Reservations Now!

In our last email blast we announced the opening of the hotel block for MIR2011, November 5-7, 2010 in Chicago. We've updated our website with the info and you can place your reservation now.

New Events to Debut at MIR2011

We are always looking for ways to improve your MIR experience and here are just a few of the new things that you can expect to see at MIR2011.

The Kink Market and Social at MIR2011
This year we will be bringing a more complete social experience to the Kink Market at MIR2011. Our bar area will include seating options to relax and hang out for more socializing while shopping for the latest in suits, boots, hoods, harnesses and more.

The Rubber Pup Rumpus at MIR2011
We have heard your howl rubber pups - AROOOOOO - and we are planning a designated puppy event for MIR2011. Plans are still in the works, but this event will take place on Saturday November 6, 2010 in the Kink Market at MIR2011.

Lubed Up Latex Wrestling at MIR2011
Your Sunday afternoon just got a whole lot more entertaining as we introduce Lubed-up Latex Wrestling for MIR2011. We will be inviting our vendors and sponsors to grapple it out on Sunday November 7, 2011 in the Kink Market at MIR2011. Watch as our vendors and sponsors representatives step into the ring to bump, grind, flip and flop, all while being up to their ankles in water based lube.

IML32 - The Rubber Invasion Continues

Plans are underway for an expanded rubber presence at International Mister Leather (aka: IML), taking place in Chicago from May 28 - 31, 2010.

As IML returns to the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Mr. International Rubber will have two adjoining booth spaces in the vendors market. Look for booths 1008 & 1009, just to your left as you enter the market space. Our expanded booth will allow KinkRubber and his hench men exclusive space for our annual rubber bondage demos, while providing dedicated space for you to have all your questions answered about MIR2011, the Rubber Agenda 2010 and rubbery vendors to be found at IML32. Be sure to enter our annual raffle, as we will be giving away three weekend packages to MIR2011.

Volunteers are still needed to help staff the booth. If you are interested in being a volunteer send an email to our Volunteer Coordinator, Tonio.

IML Brings a Rubbery Judge to the Table
At Mid Atlantic Leather this past January, IML made the annual announcement of their judges and tally masters for IML 32. Among those announced was our very own weekend coordinator and MIR2003, Rubberwilli!

IML executive staff members approached Rubberwilli during the final day of MIR2010 to make their formal invitation to join the judges table at IML32. They stated that their decision was made in part due to the extraordinary changes at MIR in the past year, including the creation of MIR Contest, LLC as parent company of Mr. International Rubber; the move to the much larger Center on Halsted; and their desire to help promote the event to a larger fetish audience at IML32.

Needless to say, this means Rubberwilli is going to be a very busy man over the course of IML this year, but we hope you will be sure to say hello and congratulations to him when you do see him over the course of the weekend.

The Rubber Agenda 2010: May 28-31, 2010
We are pleased to announce the annual "Rubber Agenda" at the biggest leather event in the world.

Last year Chuck Renslow acknowledged the growth of the rubber scene from the stage at IML and the impact that we have had on broadening the fetish scene at the annual leather event.

Olivier Schery is Mr. Rubclub 2010

Rubclub hosted the 7th annual Mr. Rubclub contest on the evening of January 2, 2010 in Karlsruhe, Germany.

In front of a crowd of almost 500 people, Olivier Schery (31) from Strasbourg was chosen as Mr. RubClub 2010 from a field of 5 contestants. (Apparently 6 had registered, but only five competed on the night of the contest.) Third place was awarded to Peter (39) from Nonnweiler, and second place was Roman (42) from Freiburg.

Olivier is a Frenchman who lives in Strasbourg on the Border of Germany and France. He is 31 years old and is a manager of restaurant.

You may recall that Rubclub's titleholder has snagged the Mr. International Rubber title twice before with Frank Bug, MIR2005 and Michael Schneider, MIR2006.

Olivier has made appearances at several events since taking the sash including BLF Easter Weekend in Berlin, and at several MEC Events in Paris. We look forward to seeing Olivier at MIR2011, as the Germans attempt to reclaim the title of Mr. International Rubber.

Next up for Olivier is Rubber Pride 2010 from May 21- 24 in Karlsruhe.

American Rubber Pup Contest Debuts at West Coast Rubber Winter Warm-up 2010

West Coast Rubber held their annual Winter Warm-up party at the the Helios Resort in Palm Spring California, February 5-7 2010.

Among the highlights of the weekend was the first-ever American Rubber Pup contest. There were good growls all around as 2 hot pups from San Diego vied for best in show. Pup Dragz and Zig Zag worked their pup magic on the geared-up crowd at the Barracks Bar in Cathedral City. Emcee Alex Lindsay, American Leatherman 2009, definitely had his hands full as he ran the pups through the three segments of the contest; Pup Up, Sexy Pup and Good Pup.

On hand for judge duties were; Alan Penrod Mr Atlanta Eagle Leather and IML 2009 second runner up, Pup Nitro Mr. Hotlanta Rubber 2008, Blast SoCal Community Bootblack, and Scott Moats aka Rubberdawg. Matthew Simensen was on had to tally the very close scores.

First runner up Pup Dragz received a Tire Pup rubber chew bone and a weekend package to the West Coast Rubber weekend. Winner and American Rubber Pup 2010 Zig Zag received a custom rubber hood from Rubberdawg and a weekend package to the WCR weekend.

MIR2010 Fenn - On The Move

MIR2010 Fenn Has wasted no time making the rubbery rounds during his title year. He was recently spotted at Mid-Atlantic leather in Washington DC; Black Party XXX in New York City; Rubbout in Vancouver, BC; and Cleveland Leather Awareness Weekend in Cleveland, Ohio.

Fenn has been blogging over at this personal blog where you can read some of his erotic writings, and catch up on his latest adventures - including how he arrived at the decision to shave off his mohawk for charity. Yes, the hawk is down for the moment.
