Greetings!

Greetings from Mr. International Rubber!

We're into the final days before MIR2008! Here are some last minute details to help you with your trip and weekend planning.

Hotel and Travel Updates!

As we get close to the big weekend be sure to double check your travel arrangements and be sure you have your travel to and from the airport set.

If you are planning on using the Blue or Red Line Trains on your way in from O'Hare or Midway Airports, be sure to check the Chicago Transit Authority website for construction and detour information as there are projects underway on both lines. Be prepared by having the information at hand when you arrive.

On the hotel front, we've received news from a few people that they've had to change their travel plans or have cancelled their room reservations at the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace. If you didn't get a room at our host hotel, call to see if you can be put on the waiting list for any rooms that may come available this week. Remember the cancellation rules for your individual hotel if you need to make changes in your plans.

As a reminder, we've got lots of links on MIRubber.com to assist you with getting around Chicago, weekend schedule of events, hotels and alternate accommodations, addresses, maps and websites to assist you in finding venues around Chicago.

Schedule Updates

Here's a few last minute updates to the weekend schedule! Check out what is in store for you at MIR2008!

The Rubberzone and Effen Vodka
"Greet the Meat" Cocktail Party!

Our Friday night opening event just got a little more special with two great MIR sponsors switching the focus from
"Meet and Greet" to "Greet the Meat!"

rubberzoneRubberZone has been a sponsor of Mr. International Rubber for at least 7 years now. They been one of our greatest supporters providing promotion, great prize packages for the winners and several issues each year devoted to coverage of MIR weekend and the preliminary contests that lead up to MIR each year. We're glad to have them on board as a Platinum sponsor and kicking off the first party of the weekend.

Effen VodkaEffen Vodka is a Platinum Sponsor who has joined to support MIR this year and we think it's a natural fit. After all, Effen comes packaged in a rubber covered bottle! Try an Effen cocktail with one of your drink tickets at the Greet the Meat Cocktail Party! As always we'll have munchies and snacks for you...and plenty of men in rubber gear!

The Steamworks and
Chicago Rubbermen
Strict Rubber Dress Code Party!

We don't normally publicize the location of the Strict Rubber Dress Code party in advance, but this year we're changing that!

SteamworksSteamworks is the premiere mens playspace with locations in Chicago, Toronto and Berkeley. Each location has an industrial and masculine aesthetic unique to the local scene. In Chicago that includes three floors of spaces to relax, work out, play and have a great time. With a gym, wet areas, slings, glory holes, a maze, rim chairs, videos, hot tubs, wet and dry sauna, locker rooms for storage and intimate spaces for play, Steamworks is a mens club like no other and Gold level sponsor of MIR2008! This year we'll have the third floor "attic" as a private rubber-only play space for our annual Strict Rubber Dress Code Party. As always, you'll have to purchase a Mr. International Rubber weekend package to join in the fun!

Chicago RubbermenThe Chicago Rubbermen have become a fetish force in Chicago and beyond and we're glad to have their name on this years Strict Rubber Dress Code Party! These guys have developed a loyal following in the pup, boy, leather and sports gear fetish community as well because they have a good time whenever they get together. In addition to running the Gear Swap and Closet Sale this year, several of the members are active behind the scenes making MIR possible volunteering at the IML Booth, stuffing weekend packages, and other activities. Only 13 months after they formed, they are a Bronze level sponsor of MIR2008! This is a group to keep you're eye on!

The Rubber Buddies Brunch
at the Kit Kat Club!

Kit Kat Lounge & Supper ClubThe Kit Kat Supper club is a classy yet campy dinning spot located in the heart of Chicago's "Boystown" neighborhood. They are normally open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday, and one day a year they open for a private brunch - just for rubberguys! This year the Kit Kat has a new chef and will be adding a few new items to their great brunch fare. As always the bar will be open and they'll be serving Bloody Mary's, Mimosas, Martinis and many other drinks to go along with your brunch!

Best of all the Kit Kat is located right in the middle of the major MIR venues, so it's a great place for dinner any night of your MIR weekend! Be sure to call ahead for reservations as they are always busy.

Buy Your Tickets Online!

The mad dash to the finish is on. Weekend package sales are in full swing and you can buy your tickets online until Thursday, November 8 at 5:00 PM. After that time weekend packages will only be available at the registration desk.

Please do not send your weekend regsitration by Postal Mail at this point in time as we cannot guarantee that we will recieve your package in time for the weekends events.

Our weekend package is the same price as last year but we've added more events to the weekend schedule! It's a bargain!

Weekend Package Pick-up

Weekend packages will be available for pick-up beginning at Noon on Friday, November 9. If you arrive late on Friday, or early on Saturday Morning, you'll also be able to pick up your weekend packages on Saturday beginning at 11:00.

The rubber world converges on Chicago from November 9-11.

Will you be there?

In sweat, slime and shine,

William "Rubberwilli" Schendel
Weekend Coordinator
Mr. International Rubber
