We have a new Mr. International Rubber!

Brian Turgeon is MIR2008!
MIR2008 is now in the history books. Five great men competed for the title of Mr. International Rubber 2008 and when the votes were counted Brian Turgeon, Mr. Rubber Montreal, was sashed as MIR2008!
In the photo to the left you see (from left to right) 2nd runner-up, Duncan Estes of Lawrence, Kansas; MIR2008, Brian Turgeon of Montreal, Canada; and 1st runner-up, Kai Wallace of Tallahassee, Florida. Also competeing was Xavier Gicquel of Paris, France; and Christopher Saxon of Los Angeles, California.
A huge celebration is being planned for this coming weekend when Brian makes his first official appearance in Montreal as Mr. International Rubber 2008. Coincidentally, it will be his step-down as Mr. Rubber Montreal and he will help select his successor to that title. If you are in the Montreal area, this will be a great weekend to be at L'Aigle Noir Bar in Montreal!
MIR2008 - A Great Success
This year's event was a huge success on many levels.
Five great vendors traveled from Beijing, London, Houston, Portland, and of course Chicago, to bring weekend attendees a plethora of gear and fetish items.
The resounding success of the Chicago Rubbermen Gear Swap and Closet Sale shocked us all as rubbermen from around the globe swapped and sold their excess rubber gear (is there such a thing?) Many guys walked away with great bargains and gear that is new to them! New converts to rubber were seen all weekend long trying on gear in every corner of the vendors market and gear swap.
Our educational partnership with the Center on Halsted provided us with a new venue for educational demonstrations, discussions and events. This state of the art facility impressed all who attended and set contestants minds as ease as they waited for the ever important "contestant interviews" to begin.
These are just a few of the highlights of the weekend. We'll post a full array of photos from MIR2008 events sometime in the next few weeks. Rubberzone is planning their annual MIR issue(s) and RECON has posted a few pics of the Rubber Sweat Disco night on their events pages. Stay tuned for more photos from a variety of sources.
Save The Date For MIR2009!
We'll take a few days to de-brief on this year's event and then we'll start planning for next year. So be sure to save these dates on your calendar for MIR2009! November 7-9, 2008 Chicago, IL USA.
Look for full details on MIR2009 to be released on MIRubber.com in May of 2008.
