The MIR2008 Blog is Online!
This year we launch a new initiative, and opportunity for MIR2008 Brian Turgeon to blog about his year as Mr. International Rubber 2008 and share his experience with the world.
So far Brian has blogged about his Victory party upon his return to Montreal, his fetish family Christmas dinner party, and to the right you'll see the appearance of Brian and his partner Eric (aka: Rubbermaid) in a Montreal gay magazine at Christmas time. You can read the article published about his win online at the Fugues website. (In French.)
Brian will be blogging on MIRubber.com throughout the year, and no doubt as warmer weather ensues and his travel schedule ramps up you'll be reading and seeing more of Brian in his travels around the world.
Mr. RubClub 2008 is Thorsten!
The fifth annual Mr. RubClub Contest was held on December 29, 2007. When the audience votes were counted the winner was Thorsten Melpert. Thorsten is 36 years old and lives in Kassel, located in central Germany.
Just for trivia, Kassel was once home to famous individuals such as authors the Brothers Grimm and film director F. W. Murnau (most well known for Nosferatu) both suitably gothic and kinky in their overtones I think!
There were 6 contestants from all over Germany competing for the title in the new contest location in Karlsruhe. The first runner up was Frank from Berlin and second runner up was Lars from Hamburg.
Sister Sister Piccolettha and Sister Bar-Bitch-Ka of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence houses in Berlin and Cologne, respectively, were the hostess of the evening.
Guests in attendance included Mister Rubber Italia 2008 , Nicola Bocchetta; Mister Fetish Switzerland 06/07, Phil Lepine; German Mister Leather 2007, Edin Karovic; Mister Leather Baden-Württember, Thomas Bartel; Mister RubBear 2007, Andreas Orelt and of course the most recent Mister Rubclub 2007, Chris Petry.
In his final speech Chris Petry dedicated his thanks to all his fans, friends, sponsors and organizers of his title year which gave him so many new experiences. It was a great pleasure for him to represent the rubber scene during his title year and he will continue being involved in the months and years to come.
West Coast Rubber Winter Warm-Up!
The guys of West Coast Rubber are at it again! It's time for a Winter Warm-up in steamy Palm Springs, California.
L8xDad and L8XBoy host the second annual West Coast Rubber Winter Warm Up from February 8 - 10 at the clothing optional Helios Resort.
If you've never been swimming in full rubber in the middle of the desert (as pictures above) you're really missing out! WCR Winter Warm-up has no contest, just a time to relax and have fun with other hot horny guys in rubber gear!
In other news West Coast Rubber announced in early January that they are moving the event to Los Angeles and to a new weekend, July 11-13, 2008! Details are still being worked out, but if past experience is any indication, it's going to be a great weekend in the city of angels!

RubClub and Berlin Star Film Team Up
RubClub continues their efforts to spread the rubber scene with the launch of their new adult video "RubClub Volume 1" produced with Berlin Star Film.
Berlin Star Film is a new company specializing in fetish videos, and won the Best Newcomer Award 2007 from GayEline, the leading trade magazine for the European gay community.
Now we know how everyone is always looking for a "real" gay rubber porn. While we are partial to several that are out there already, this one promises to be worth looking into. Check out the link at the bottom of this section to see a preview image of the video and to find vendors to purchase your own copy.
RubClub and Berlin Star are teaming up again this weekend to film RubClub Volume 2 as part of the Berlin International Rubber Weekend. Saturday night RubClub holds a "Rubber Porn Party" with free admission. Scenes will be taped and then assembled into a new rubber film to be released in the near future.
For now it looks like RubClub Volume 1 is only available in PAL format, but we can hope that it gets picked-up in more formats soon enough!

IML30 Gets A Rubbery Judge!
Like many fetish events around the globe, International Mister Leather has seen a steady increase in the number of rubber guys attending each year. This year International Mister Leather celebrates the 30th year of the event and we are proud to say that each year the rubbery connections to this event continue to grow.
In 2005 MIR initiated our first appearance as a vendor at IML to help promote MIR to a wider audience of the fetish community.
Shortly there after, MIR2000 Tom Kelly served as one of the tally masters for IML, keeping track of and computing the scores for some 50+ contestants over four days of competition, and crunched the numbers to determine the winner.
In January of this year we were thrilled to learn Phil Redmond our very own contestant wrangler (and infamous MIR2008 scene stealer!) was selected to serve as a judge for IML30 (aka:IML Triple X...then again, the best fetish events are always rated triple X!)
It seems Phil keeps secrets very well. He recently revealed to MIRubber.com that he was invited to be an IML judge in October of 2007 and held the secret from everyone all MIR2008 weekend long!
On behalf of MIR, we couldn't be happier for Phil and he certainly is worthy of this honor. Check out Phil's bio on the IML website. He's been a busy boy as you'll see.
In other IML related news, the host hotel for IML has been moved back to the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The benefit will be that all IML judged contest events will happen in the hotel. MIR plans to have a booth at the vendors market again this year. Make your hotel reservations now as the 30th Anniversary promises to be a big event..and the rubbery contingent will grow even more as well!
