Well we took a month off from "News from Mr. International Rubber" but we are back and ready to get shiny! Here's the news you can use from rubber locations around the globe!

MIR2009 The Countdown Begins!
MIR2009 is fast approaching. We're busy pulling together all of the details and we'll have complete details for you in the coming weeks and months.
We're busy contact sponsors, blocking hotel rooms, putting together weekend packages and inviting judges from around the world. We're also trying out a few new approaches to help grow the weekend and attendance, which we'll cover a little further down in this email.
The countdown clock has been added to MIRubber.com and things are picking up speed. 210 days and counting to MIR2009!
Rubber Friendly Bars From Around the World!
As we prepare for MIR2009, we're asking for your help in identifying rubber friendly bars and clubs around the globe.
We're pretty familar with the bars and clubs that host a rubber contest, but we have a feeling that we're missing a significant number of rubber friendly spots around the globe.
So we're asking for your help....and in turn MIR is going to help you grow the rubber scene in your area.
If your local watering hole is rubber friendly, drop us a line at info@mirubber.com and let us know the name and address opf the venue and if possible the name of the bar manager/owner or club leader.
Mr. International Rubber is going to show our support for these bars and clubs in your local rubber community by letting these organization know that they have been reccomended as a rubber friendly destination by one of their patrons. We'll send them some information about MIR2009 and a few surprises as well.
IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME...NOW MIR WILL HELP YOU BUILD THE RUBBER COMMUNITY IN YOUR AREA!
Rubbout 2008 Is April 11 - 13, 2008
Rubbout 17 is set to begin this weekend in Vancouver, British Columbia. The weekend schedule of events is packed with fun filled events for rubbermen in the beautiful surroundings of the Canadian Coastline.
Rubbout began in 1992 by Bill "Northwind" Houghton as a low-key annual rubber event for rubbermen in Vancouver, BC. Over time Rubbout moved from being a small house party to a larger warehouse party.
In 2004, Bill turned Rubbout over to Mitch Kenyon and friends and the event has continued to grow and evolve ever since.
Rubbout continues to be an intimate weekend attracting a small international crowd with events that take place in multiple venues in the heart of the Village, uniting the community around a fetish weekend.
Sean Johnson is the First Mr. Rubber Cleveland!
Yes, you read that right, Mr. Rubber Cleveland!
This one just kind of snuck up on all of us, but Cleveland had their first rubber contest on the weekend of February 29 - March 2, 2008 at Cocktails Cleveland.
When the votes were tallied, Sean Johnson was declared the winner.
Sean is 24 years old and hails from Aurora, Ohio. He has been active in the BDSM community since he was 19 years old.
He certainly has a wide variety of fetish interests including: firemen's gear, gloves, hazmat, hockey, military, pvc, rubber, vinyl, spandex, lycra and sneakers! Sean hopes to start a rubber club and help put Cleveland on the rubber map!

Mr. M.E.C. Rubber France 2008 Is Yann!
Mecs En Caoutchouc celebrated the third annual Mr. M.E.C. Rubber France contest on March 29, 2008 at the Full Metal Bar in Paris.
Five men competed for the title, and the newly sashed winner is Yann, who is pictured to the left. He hopes to follow in the footsteps of Mr. International Rubber 2002 Yannick Kerjose, by bringing the MIR title back to France.
Yann is a 35 year old photographer from St. Denis, a suburb of Paris. St. Denis is located to the north of Paris and is home to the National Stadium (Stade de France) among other landmarks.
Congratulations to M.E.C. and Yann on another successfull weekend!
Reid Is The First Mr. Rubber Calgary!
Priape and The Calgary Eagle teamed up this past weekend for the first Mr. Rubber Calgary contest!
From what we hear this is the first of several new rubber contests planned for Canada in the coming months and year!
Two contestants competed for the title and above you can see Reid, the first Mr. Rubber Calgary, (on the left) with fellow contestant Doug (middle) and Mr. International Rubber 2008, BJ Turgeon, on the right.
Reid is 36 years old and is also well known for his blog Calgary Rubberman. You can find him on RECON and Gearfetish as "speedoguru" where he lists some of his fetish fantasies as gimp, hogtie, vac-rack, sling and rubber transformation scenes!

MIR2008 Coverage From Poland!
For the past few years, MIR has been contacted by Adam Magazine of Poland.
We'v sent images and press releases from Mr. International Rubber Weekend to appear in this leading gay magazine for Poland.
This year we were pleased to recieve a copy of the final article and we thought we would share it with you! Our reach truly is international and continues to grow each year!
We think it is a pretty impressive looking article , even if you can't read the text!

The MIR web presence is growing again, this time via MySpace!
We know that it's a big rubbery world out there and we're always looking for new ways to reach out to share the experience of Mr. International Rubber with newbies and experienced rubberists from around the world.
Last year Mr. International Rubber had a booth at Folsom Europe, we participate in International Mr. leather, and our website MIRubber.com has been a huge success in making our information more timely and accessible.
So we are pleased to announce our new presence on one of the largest "mainstream" social networking sites in existance.
There are a suprising number of rubberists on MySpace and we think it's about time that someone brings the MIR experience to them!
We hope to include images from previous year on our MySpace site and help build the reputation of Mr. International Rubber beyond our current reach. You can help us by adding the MIR MySpace page as a friend from our own page on MySpace. You might even consider including us in your top friends if you were so inclined!
MIR2008 On The Move!
First a note from MIR2008.
"Just a quick update, I am [now] going by BJ Turgeon (Brian Joseph) as my neighbour has the same name as I do and it is just getting too confusing. It is crazy to think that there are two Brian Turgeons...both gay, living close to one another in the Montreal village."
So we'll be listing him as "BJ Turgeon" moving forward on the website and in these newsletters, but he's still the same rubber pervert...a now with a cunning little double entendre for a name...slurp!
