The MIR International Rubber Weekend is an annual weekend conference celebrating the global rubber fetish community. Over the course of five days each year, attendees of the weekend participate in multiple activities. This page enumerates the programs and services we offer over the course of the MIR International Rubber Weekend, as well as our year round efforts to promote the global rubber fetish community.
The Contest at MIR International Rubber Weekend
Begun in 1998, the MIR Contest is the flagship event of the MIR International Rubber Weekend. In 2023 the contestant moved from being a men's contest to becoming a gender inclusive contest. As such three additional honorifics were added to our contest. Contestants from around the globe, and of all genders, compete in a beauty pageant style contest, judged by a panel of international fetish community leaders, in hopes of securing one of the following titles:
- Ms. International Rubber - (for winners identifying as feminine or female)
- Mx. International Rubber - (for winners identifying as non-binary)
- Mr. International Rubber - (for winners identifying a masculine or male)
- MIR International Rubber Ambassador - (for winners who wish to use a non-gendered title)
The winner of the MIR Contest holds their title for a single year, during which they represent the contest, the MIR organization, and the global rubber community at events and in presentations around the world.
Kink Ed Classes at MIR International Rubber Weekend
Kink Ed Classes are provided over the course of the MIR International Rubber Weekend. Classes cover a range of topics and formats including: skills building, safety, hands on workshops, demonstrations, panel discussions, and academic presentations. Classes address experience levels such as beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Classes are taught by community leaders recruited and vetted by our education team.
Affinity Groups at MIR International Rubber Weekend
Affinity Groups are meet-ups for subsets of the larger community, to share intentional space just for their members, to build a sense of belonging within the larger community. These affinity group meet-ups may be social or discussion based. Typical affinity group meet-ups may include the following : Rubberists of Color Meet-up; Asian Rubberists Meet-up; Trans, Non-Binary and gender Non-Conforming Meet-up; Women and Femmes Meet-up; Ace Spectrum Meet-up; Recovery meetings; and more.
"Art at MIR" at MIR International Rubber Weekend
"Art at MIR" is a small scale annual art exhibition held during MIR International Rubber Weekend. The exhibition opens with a vernissage on the Thursday of the MIR International Rubber Weekend, and continues for 3 more days. Each year's exhibition is themed in alignment with the theming for each year's MIR International Rubber Weekend.
The Kink Market at MIR International Rubber Weekend
The Kink Market is a 3 day vendor expo and marketplace showcasing the latest in rubber and latex fashions and accessories. Weekend attendees may browse, try on, and purchase items from the vendors, as well as placing custom orders for future deliveries.
The Trunk Show at MIR International Rubber Weekend
The Trunk Show is a program of the Kink Market at MIR International Rubber Weekend, in which vendors - who may not be able to attend MIR International Rubber Weekend - may still showcase their products to weekend attendees. Vendors send samples of their wares in advance of the weekend, and MIR staff merchandise these sample for attendees to peruse on site. Measurement services are provided to facilitate attendees ordering custom work from vendors. Vendors may provide discounts to incentivize sales via their online presence.
The Fashion Show at MIR International Rubber Weekend
The Fashion Show is an annual opportunity for global latex fashion houses to showcase their latest creations on our mainstage, in a fully produced fashion show. Our fashion show also features members of our MIR International Rubber Weekend community as models, so that there is representation of actual rubberists on stage modeling the latest fashions.
The Demo Pit at MIR International Rubber Weekend
The Demo Pit is an interactive space within The Kink market where attendees may participate in various guided bondage and BDSM experiences. The Demo Pit is staffed by volunteers, and is capacity limited, and monitored for safety of all participants.
The Rubber Club Summit at MIR International Rubber Weekend
The Rubber Club Summit is an annual gathering of leaders from international rubber focused social clubs. This gathering provides an opportunity for club leaders to share ideas, discuss issues of mutual concern, and collaborate on projects of mutual interest. Beyond the MIR International Rubber Weekend, the Rubber Club Summit may convene quarterly virtual meetings to foster ongoing communication between global club leaders throughout the year.
The International Rubber Events Calendar of MIR International Rubber Weekend
The International Rubber Events Calendar is a year round project of The Rubber Club Summit at MIR International Rubber Weekend. This community calendar allows international social clubs and fetish venues to easily list their rubber, latex and fetish focused events on a centralized, public, electronic calendar. This encourages continued growth and development of rubber communities around the globe.
External Events of MIR International Rubber Weekend
External Events are events held by MIR International Rubber Weekend throughout the year to increase the visibility of our organization and to provide a venue for rubberists to physically gather outside of the MIR International Rubber Weekend. Events have previously been held in Chicago, Illinois; Washington, DC; Piscatway, New Jersey; and Berlin, Germany.
